Adler Kitzbühel thrash Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the Alps Hockey League

Kitzbühel were also clearly on top in the third game of the season between Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. In their 8:0 home win, the new second-placed team quickly set course for victory with a quick-fire double in the sixth and seventh minutes. At the start of the middle period, the “Adler”, who had previously beaten the Juniors 6:1 and 8:1 this season, extended their lead to 3:0.

Kitzbühel scored the remaining five goals in the final twelve minutes of the game in front of 1.250 fans. Paolo Wieltschnig was the only player to score twice. For the 21-year-old, it was his first brace in a Tirol jersey. KEC netminder Luca Egger stopped all 22 shots and celebrated his first shutout in his second appearance of the season. It was already the Juniors' fifth consecutive defeat, while Kitzbühel celebrated their third win in a row.

In the second game of the day, Rittner Buam Sky Alps narrowly prevailed 5:4/OT in the South Tyrol derby at Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. The hosts, who sit seventh in the table, took the lead in the 15th minute, but the defending AHL champions turned the game around before the end of the first period. Two further goals in the middle period saw the fourth-placed side pull comfortably clear at 4:1.

However, the hosts returned from the dressing room transformed in the final period, registering 14:4 shots on goal in total and finding the net three times. Nicolo Remolato equalised on the power play 112 seconds before the end of regulation time. The 19-year-old forward had also scored to make it 2:4 and celebrated his first brace in the Alps Hockey League.

In overtime, however, Ritten ultimately secured the extra point. Marco Marzolini scored the game-winner in the 64th minute. Ritten had also narrowly prevailed 5:4 after overtime in the first meeting of the season.
