Adler Kitzbühel cele­brate convincing home win against EC Bregen­z­er­wald in the Alps Hockey League

Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel defeated EC Bregenzerwald 7:3 in the Alps Hockey League on Thursday. EK Die Zeller Eisbären gave HC Gherdeina valgardena.it no chance in a 7:1 victory.

Third-placed EK Die Zeller Eisbären celebrated a comfortable 7:1 home win over HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in front of almost 2.000 fans. Tim Coffman was the standout player with a hat-trick and two assists. Max Wilfan also scored twice, while Nick Huard shone with one goal and five assists. For tenth-placed Gröden, it was already their third consecutive defeat.

Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel also scored seven goals in their 7:3 home win over EC Bregenzerwald. Fourth-placed Kitzbühel collected three hugely important points in the battle for the top 5 against the seventh-placed side from Vorarlberg and now sit seven points ahead of ECB. Klemens Krainz was the only Adler player to score twice, while Philipp Pöschmann netted two goals for the visitors. The score was still 1:1 after the first period, before Kitzbühel pulled away to 4:2 in the second. The 5:2 early in the final period all but sealed the result. It was Kitzbühel's first win after two consecutive defeats, while Bregenzerwald had to accept their fourth defeat in their last five games.

Rittner Buam SkyAlps and Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan produced a thrilling derby encounter, which Ritten eventually won 4:3 in overtime. It was the Buam's fourth consecutive victory, lifting them into sixth place and to within one point of fifth-placed Asiago. Sterzing remain ninth. The home side led 2:0 after 25 minutes, before the Broncos levelled the score by the 40th minute. The visitors even took the lead in the final period, but this time Ritten hit back: Tobias Graf equalised three minutes before the end of regulation time. Patrick Madsen sealed the win in overtime after 76 seconds.

1.800 fans in Sisak initially saw a strong performance from their team. Despite leading 2:0 at one stage, KHL Sisak ultimately lost 2:3 to S.G. Cortina Hafro after a shootout. The second-placed side had opened up a two-goal lead after just 16 minutes, before Cortina got on the scoresheet in the 39th and 58th minutes. Oskari Kalajanniska scored the crucial equaliser for the eighth-placed side, who eventually prevailed in the shootout thanks to Kris Pietroniro's decisive goal to celebrate their fourth consecutive win.

Twelfth-placed HC Meran/o Pircher claimed a surprise 5:2 away win at fifth-placed HC Migross Asiago. It was only the Adler's eighth win of the season in their 23rd game. In front of almost 1.000 fans, Reid Stefanson gave Meran the lead in the eleventh minute. The Canadian ultimately scored three of the visitors' five goals. Asiago equalised in the 33rd minute, but Meran pulled away to 4:1 by the 50th minute, ultimately handing the home side their third consecutive home defeat.

Bottom side Hockey Unterland Cavaliers gave defending champions HDD Jesenice no chance, claiming a 5:2 home win. It was only the Cavaliers' fifth victory in their 22nd game of the season, while Jesenice suffered their 15th defeat. For the South Tyroleans, it was their first win in the head-to-head series after five consecutive defeats. Marek Potsinok was the outstanding man of the evening with a hat-trick. Among other things, he scored the game-deciding goals to make it 3:1 and 4:1 midway through the second period.
