5:2 final win over Germany – Canada are world cham­pions for the 28th time!

The World Championship in Finland and Latvia concluded on Sunday with finals day in Tampere. The showpiece final between Canada and Germany was evenly balanced for two periods, but Canada ultimately prevailed 5:2. The Maple Leafs are world champions for the 28th time overall.

Behind silver medallists Germany, Latvia sensationally won the bronze medal. Latvia celebrated a 4:3 overtime victory over the USA in the third-place game.

Austria finished 14th overall and will play at the 2024 World Championship in the Czech Republic next year, with Prague and Ostrava as the host cities.
