2027 World Cham­pi­onship: Austria set for show­down with hosts Germany in Mannheim

After the World Championship is before the World Championship. And the coming one casts its shadows ahead. The IIHF and host Germany announced the provisional group divisions this Monday. The games will be played in Mannheim and Düsseldorf, with Düsseldorf being home to two quarter-finals as well as both semi-finals and the medal decisions.

According to the current status, the Austrian national team will be based in Mannheim, where they will face Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, Slovenia and Ukraine. Head coach Roger Bader: "This is definitely an attractive group with the two finalists from the last World Championship and at the same time a very strong one. Since you can't choose the group, you take it as it is."

Sees as a great unknown Roger Bader Promoted Stories Ukraine: "We have never played against them in recent years. You can see that they are performing better every year in the U18 and U20. We are preparing for a strong opponent."

If the groups remain unchanged, from an Austrian perspective we can look forward to three meetings with neighbouring countries with Switzerland, Germany and Slovenia. The schedule for the 2027 World Championship will be announced at a later date.
