107 points! ÖEHV forward Theresa Schafzahl breaks club record

“Congratulations to Theresa Schafzahl, who broke the previous points record with her goals,” head coach Jim Plumer said of his captain immediately after the game.

Theresa Schafzahl scored her 106th point on a 4:3 power play late in the first period to give the Catamounts a 1:0 lead. Following a pass from Sini Karjalainen, she fired a wrist shot over goaltender Madison Beck’s glove and into the net.

The UVM captain scored her second goal 4:57 into the second period. A give-and-go between Mlýnková and Schafzahl took the Cats into the Crusaders’ zone, with Schafzahl finishing to make it 2:0.

Schafzahl is now the all-time leading goal scorer (55) and points scorer (107 points). She needs just five more assists to break Amanda Pelkey’s club record as well (56).

Theresa Schafzahl will have her first opportunity to do so as early as next weekend, when the Catamounts host UConn in front of their home crowd.
